with us to discuss the case, nbc news chief science and health correspondent bob bazell. good to see you, bob. when we talked last night, what you said was we were missing a critical piece of information, which is where is the clot, and it's in the vein situated in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear. what can you tell us? >> this is a vein that drains blood from the brain into the central circulation system. the danger with it, because it's so close to the brain, is that if the clot were to grow, it could go inside the brain and become a stroke. that didn't happen according to the doctors. it's appropriate to treat this kind of clot with anti-coagulant therapy. one of the things everybody was talking about before was usually when somebody has a concussion, they get a blood clot called a subdural hematoma and that cannot be treated with that therapy because it presents certain dangers. because this is in a vein outside the brain it can be treated. it's a fairly rare complication with concussions, but it is a possibility. >> obviously, the big co
